Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wladimir Reis!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reis.
Reis fails with a takedown attempt.
Ramirez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Reis. That did some damage!

Reis blocks a low kick nicely.
Reis keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Ramirez looks to land a body kick but Reis moved away.
Reis moves out of range of the body kick.

Reis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ramirez is trying to defend but Reis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Reis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Reis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ramirez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ramirez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Ramirez wants to try and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramirez can't escape the position.

Reis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Reis working for a submission but Ramirez is keeping him at bay.
Ramirez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Reis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
You get the feeling that Ramirez really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Reis looking for a guillotine from mount but Ramirez is having none of it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Reis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Reis with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Ramirez wants to try and get back to his feet.
Ramirez is breathing heavily.

Reis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ramirez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Reis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ramirez is just riding it out for now. Reis eventually gives up the hold.

Reis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ramirez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reis prevents Ramirez from standing back up.
Reis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working.
Reis works his way into side control.

Reis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ramirez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Reis moves into full mount!
Ramirez wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Reis has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Ramirez is forced to tap!
