Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jacobs paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jacobs shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
Jacobs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
Smith tries to clinch up but Jacobs circles away and keeps his distance.

Jacobs has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jacobs on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jacobs missing with knees to the body.
Jacobs goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tyson Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Jacobs.
Jacobs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jacobs somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Jacobs counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Jacobs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.

Jacobs drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Jacobs off! Jacobs jumps back into Smith's guard.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jacobs looks gassed!

Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jacobs on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jacobs.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Tyson Smith will probably get the nod.

Smith throws a right hand that Jacobs ducks under and follows up with a left that Jacobs also avoids with ease.
Smith looks to clinch
and Jacobs counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Jacobs dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Jacobs's head and hops out.

Jacobs shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Jacobs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jacobs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Justin Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
