Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Hui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Bjerke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bjerke comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kanye West - Stronger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Derek Hui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Benny Bjerke!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hui darts in and clinches Bjerke up against the cage.
Hui throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Hui tries a knee to the head but Bjerke blocks it.
Bjerke has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hui avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Bjerke gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hui regains guard.
Hui wants to stand but Bjerke is controlling the position.
Bjerke trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hui's guard.
Bjerke decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hui, up you get!
Bjerke closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hui tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hui lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Hui tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bjerke smiles and moves away.
Hui wants to clinch but Bjerke slips to the side
and Bjerke counters by moving into the clinch.
Bjerke gets through Hui's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hui is pressed up against the cage. Bjerke has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hui down to the mat. Hui avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hui closes the distance and clinches up with Bjerke, looking for a takedown. Hui pushes Bjerke against the cage but Bjerke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Hui. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hui throws a head kick that misses
and Bjerke counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hui's guard now.

Bjerke drops back looking for a leg! Hui is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hui manages to kick Bjerke off! Bjerke jumps back into Hui's guard.
Bjerke wants to stand but Hui has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bjerke won't allow Hui to get back to his feet.
Hui has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bjerke off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Bjerke doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hui counters with a single leg into guard. Bjerke didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hui gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bjerke fails with the takedown
and Bjerke takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Hui counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hui.
Bjerke is working for takedown but Hui is calmly controlling the position for now.

Bjerke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Hui counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bjerke!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hui goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bjerke turns into him and now he's in Hui's guard.

Bjerke stands up and waves to Hui to follow him.
Hui doesn't manage to clinch there - Bjerke circles away.
Hui tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bjerke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Derek Hui will probably get the nod.

That was a close second round but I would say that Derek Hui will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hui, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
