PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert McLovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Narvith Barcarse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Robert McLovin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Robert McLovin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert McLovin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Narvith Barcarse!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLovin throws a looping overhand right but Barcarse ducks down to avoid it.
Barcarse closes the distance and clinches up with McLovin, looking for a takedown. Barcarse pushes McLovin against the ropes but McLovin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Barcarse shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McLovin as he jumps to the side.
A head kick misses from McLovin.

Barcarse has closed the distance and engaged McLovin in a clinch.
Barcarse has McLovin pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. McLovin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Robert McLovin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Narvith Barcarse.
McLovin working hard to break the clinch.
Barcarse is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McLovin pulls him back up using the underhooks.

McLovin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McLovin tries to clinch up but Barcarse circles away and keeps his distance.

Barcarse feints and as McLovin raises his hands in defense, Barcarse changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Barcarse in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Barcarse won't allow McLovin to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barcarse accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McLovin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Barcarse throws a strike but McLovin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Barcarse wants to stand and escape but McLovin is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barcarse can do anything to dispel that myth.
Barcarse looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLovin wants to get up but he can't break Barcarse's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Barcarse scores with a takedown into McLovin's guard.
Barcarse working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McLovin wants to get back to his feet but Barcarse is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Barcarse throws and elbow that misses. McLovin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Barcarse's guard. Nice move by McLovin!
McLovin wanted to stand there but Barcarse had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McLovin wants to stand and escape but instead Barcarse has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Narvith Barcarse dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McLovin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barcarse.
Barcarse with the ground and pound but McLovin regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Barcarse misses with a head shot. McLovin uses the momentum to regain guard.
McLovin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Barcarse chips away with some ground and pound.
Barcarse throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barcarse is working McLovin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
McLovin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Barcarse throws a strike but McLovin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
McLovin is looking to stand up but Barcarse won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Barcarse has his feet on McLovin's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
John Narvith Barcarse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McLovin throws a head kick that Barcarse semi-blocks.

Barcarse moves into the clinch.
Barcarse jumps guard but McLovin stands there with Barcarse around his waist. Barcarse gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Barcarse has McLovin pressed against the ropes, preventing McLovin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Barcarse manages to pull guard.
McLovin wants to stand but Barcarse is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Narvith Barcarse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


McLovin circles away from the clinch attempt

and McLovin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McLovin.

Barcarse jumps guard and drags McLovin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
McLovin wants to stand and escape but instead Barcarse has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Barcarse postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barcarse postures up in McLovin's guard and throws a big left but McLovin blocks it.
Barcarse wants to control from the top but McLovin keeps moving.
Barcarse throws a strike but McLovin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLovin wanted to stand there but Barcarse had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McLovin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Barcarse on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
McLovin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McLovin throws a sloppy head kick and Barcarse moves out of range easily.
Barcarse shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Barcarse takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McLovin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McLovin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like John Narvith Barcarse has been cut.
McLovin lands a high kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McLovin lands a big head kick that sends Barcarse tumbling to the mat! McLovin takes a step backwards and waves Barcarse back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Barcarse is rocked!
A head kick misses from McLovin.
Barcarse shoots for a double leg takedown but McLovin sprawls well. He's pushed Barcarse's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Robert McLovin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Narvith Barcarse.
McLovin lands a head kick!
McLovin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Barcarse blocks a head kick by McLovin.

Barcarse gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McLovin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Barcarse has him pressed against the ropes.

Barcarse turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Robert McLovin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Narvith Barcarse is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Barcarse wants to take a breather but McLovin manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Barcarse.

And that's the end of the fight!
Robert McLovin showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Barcarse has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
