Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Ellis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Park Sun Gogoplata! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis misses with a two punch combination.
Ellis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ellis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ellis keeps the fight on the outside. Some wild striking there from Ellis.
Gogoplata scores a takedown into full mount! Ellis is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Gogoplata dominating with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gogoplata throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Gogoplata in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
It looks like Andrew Ellis has been cut. Gogoplata misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gogoplata throws some wild stikes that Ellis manages to avoid easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gogoplata thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Ellis is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gogoplata cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gogoplata punching from mount but Ellis doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ellis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gogoplata on the ground. Ellis is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Gogoplata locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Ellis is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Park Sun Gogoplata! Park Sun Gogoplata is the new lightweight champion!
