PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mac Gyver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gyver closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bogan did well to prevent Gyver getting side control.
Gyver wants to take a breather but Bogan is having none of it.
Bogan is trying to control but can't.
Gyver throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gyver moves nicely into side control.
Bogan prevents Gyver from improving position.
Bogan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bogan tries to bench press Gyver off him but Gyver keeps the position.

Gyver tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gyver has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gyver could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gyver tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bogan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Bogan doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gyver decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bogan's guard.

Bogan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gyver can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bogan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gyver defends well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Gyver counters with a single leg into guard. Bogan didn't expect that.
Gyver wants to control from the top but Bogan keeps moving.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bogan gets caught flat footed, as Gyver shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gyver wants to control from the top but Bogan keeps moving.
Bogan wants to sweep here but Gyver controlling him for the moment.
Gyver slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gyver advances to full mount.
Gyver avoids the attempt from Bogan to control.
Gyver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bogan is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gyver prevents Bogan from getting the reversal.
Gyver moves to back control.

Gyver is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Gyver is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bogan is defending well though. Gyver let's go of the attempt for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gyver has good solid back control here.

Gyver has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bogan has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gyver's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Mac Gyver just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Bogan tries a head kick but it misses.
Bogan fails with the takedown

and Gyver counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bogan's guard now.
Gyver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bogan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bogan has his foot on Gyver's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gyver works his way back into a safe position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Bogan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gyver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bogan is wriggling around trying to escape but Gyver has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Bogan taps out and Gyver picks up the big win! Great work there by Gyver!
