Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cruz's choice of entrance music: Stronger. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Cruz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis looks to land a combination but Cruz avoids it well. Davis fails to land the takedown. Cruz feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Cruz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Davis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Davis has his foot on Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cruz works his way back into a safe position though. Cruz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Cruz landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Cruz scoring with some ground and pound. Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cruz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cruz is looking to work some ground and pound but Davis has wrist control. Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis can't keep his opponent in guard - Cruz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cruz moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Davis. Davis is breathing heavily. Davis tries to buck Cruz off but Cruz is having none of it. Cruz is putting a hurting on Davis here, landing some big shots from side control. Cruz tries for a kimura but Davis is defending well. Davis wants to control but Cruz postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Cruz looks up at the clock and then as Davis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cruz smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Davis tries to buck Cruz off but Cruz is having none of it. Davis regains half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cruz not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cruz thows a huge punch but Davis dodges it nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cruz fails with a takedown attempt. Davis fails with the takedown and Cruz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Cruz works over Davis with some ground and pound from guard. Davis is looking for a triangle but Cruz pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cruz passes into half guard. Davis looking for submissions off his back. Davis is trying to maintain the position but Cruz is very close to passing his half guard. Cruz drops an elbow to the side of Davis's head. Davis trying to control but Cruz postures up.
Cruz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Davis trying to control from the bottom.

Davis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cruz pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davis tries to get to full guard but Cruz has control of the leg. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cruz connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple. Davis blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cruz. Cruz looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cruz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Davis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cruz pulls his head out easily. Cruz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Davis defending well though. Cruz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Davis gets back to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cruz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cruz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cruz has managed to get both his arms back between Davis's legs - danger averted. Cruz throwing strikes from guard but Davis blocks nicely. Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Davis is tightening it up a little... Cruz has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Cruz reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Cruz taps out! nice BJJ there by Davis!
