PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jenkins Hoss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Navas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jenkins Hoss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesus Navas!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoss changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Navas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Navas managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hoss.
Hoss taking a breather here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoss throws a strike aimed at the side of Navas's head but Navas avoids it well.
Hoss controlling from side mount.
Hoss tries to advance to mount but can't.
Hoss working away.
Navas taking punishment in the form of punches.
Navas can't do much from the bottom here.
Navas looks gassed!
Hoss moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jenkins Hoss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Hoss forces Navas back against the cage and clinches.

Hoss jumps into guard, dragging Navas to the mat.
Hoss manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Navas manages to get himself to full guard.

Navas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hoss is looking to work some ground and pound but Navas has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoss makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hoss seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hoss passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hoss connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Navas some visible discomfort.
Hoss in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoss decides to stand up, so the ref orders Navas to his feet.
Hoss showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Navas.

Hoss closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Navas to the mat! Navas manages to get full guard.
Hoss sitting in guard here, content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Hoss shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Navas manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Navas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hoss controls the pace.
Navas is breathing heavily.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jenkins Hoss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Navas moves in looking to clinch but Hoss pushes him off.
Hoss fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hoss looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hoss shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Navas sprawls well. Navas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hoss gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jenkins Hoss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Navas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hoss manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hoss pushes Navas off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hoss misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Hoss gets a takedown into half guard.
Jenkins Hoss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hoss seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hoss's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Navas trying to control here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hoss connects with a nice short shot to Navas's temple.
Hoss content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Hoss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hoss seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Navas for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jenkins Hoss dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Navas misses with a series of wild punches.
Jenkins Hoss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hoss darts in and clinches Navas up against the cage.

Hoss wants the takedown. Navas is fighting it off but Hoss persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Navas's guard against the cage.
Hoss is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jenkins Hoss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Navas misses with a wild combination.

Hoss moves into range and clinches up with Navas.
Hoss is working for takedown but Navas is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hoss has clasped his hands together around Navas's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hoss is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Navas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hoss stands up and beckons Navas to his feet.
Jenkins Hoss is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hoss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Navas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hoss somewhat.

Hoss takes a little break here. Navas wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Hoss works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Navas seems a little lost for a moment, as Hoss dominates the positioning.
Navas managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hoss.
Jenkins Hoss is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

You can see the frustration on Navas's face as Hoss controls the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jenkins Hoss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hoss rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Navas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hoss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hoss sitting in guard here, content to control.
Navas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Navas throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hoss is stalling in the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jenkins Hoss showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hoss, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
