Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Daville (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ezio Capiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ezio Capiero has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Daville! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ezio Capiero! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Capiero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Daville. Daville will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Daville shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Daville showed some decent athleticism there. Daville wants to free his trapped foot but Capiero is holding on for dear life with his legs. Daville seems to be looking for submissions.
Capiero has one foot on Daville's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Daville closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Capiero did well to prevent Daville getting side control. Daville tries to pass the half guard into mount. Capiero knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Daville is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Capiero pushes Daville off looking to stand but Daville dives back in and keeps control.
Capiero wants to control but Daville is keeping busy.
Capiero controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daville is looking for a kimura here.
Capiero is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Daville is pressing down on Capiero's thigh, looking to free his foot. Capiero is holding on for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Daville shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Capiero napping and manages to drive through into side control! Capiero wants to control but Daville postures up. Capiero bucks up and tries to throw Daville off but instead Daville has got his back! Daville looking to break Capiero's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Capiero remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Daville will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daville looking for the choke but no joy. Capiero has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Capiero rolls, trying to escape but Daville keeps control of the position.
Capiero trying to control the action but Daville just sinks the hooks in. Daville tightening his grip on Capiero, looking for the choke.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daville is persistently looking for the submission but Capiero is defending it well.
Daville is trying to stick to Capiero's back but Capiero is turning into Daville. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Daville's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Capiero. Capiero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Capiero trying to control but Daville is working from the bottom. Daville is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Daville looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Capiero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Daville is squirming around, avoiding Capiero's attempts to control the action. Capiero sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Capiero wants to control the action but instead Daville gets a body lock and reverses into Capiero's guard! Nice work! Daville wants to pass the guard but Capiero is keeping the position. Daville sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Capiero's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daville is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Capiero moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Capiero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daville. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Capiero looking for a sweep. Not yet Capiero, not yet. Daville pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Capiero is keeping the position for now. Daville thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Daville postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Capiero is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Daville, into his guard. Daville might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Daville working for submissions but it's allowed Capiero to get to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Capiero is looking to take a break and control but Daville is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Daville manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Daville has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Capiero can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Capiero trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Daville manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! John Daville overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Capiero working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Daville has passed into half guard!
Daville has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Capiero regains half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daville is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Capiero is just riding it out for now. Daville eventually gives up the hold. Capiero wants to control the action here but instead Daville manages to pass to full mount! Daville working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ezio Capiero will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Daville misses with a takedown attempt and Capiero counters with a nice double leg into guard. Capiero wants to stand but Daville is controlling his posture from full guard. Daville has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Capiero can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Capiero wants to control from the top but Daville keeps moving. Capiero sitting in guard, not really doing much. Capiero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Daville lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Capiero!
That's one minute gone in the round. Daville moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Capiero has worked his arm free - good work by Capiero!
You can see the frustration on Capiero's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Capiero pushes Daville away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Daville gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Daville thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Capiero is trying to buck Daville off. Daville is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Capiero looks calm but he's in trouble here. Daville gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Capiero is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Daville lets go of the hold and Capiero can pop his arm back in it's socket.
