Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Gander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azrul Nizam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Azrul Nizam enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pierre Gander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Azrul Nizam! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nizam looks for a takedown but Gander sprawls well. Nizam keeps the fight on the outside. Nizam instigates a clinch. Gander is working for takedown but Nizam is calmly controlling the position for now. Gander jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nizam walks away with a smile on his face. Gander gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gander with a poor takedown and Nizam counters with a low kick, right behind Gander 's knee. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pierre Gander. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gander stuffs the takedown. Gander decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Nizam is doing well to control the position and prevent Gander from advancing to side control. Gander wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nizam keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gander is pressing down on Nizam's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nizam is holding on for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gander is trying to work for a kimura but Nizam is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gander frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gander trying to control but he's not successful this time. Gander thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gander thowing shots but they're missing. Gander tries to control but Nizam wriggling away. Nizam avoids a series of strikes thrown by Gander.
Nizam sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gander is just content to waste time from the top position. Nizam takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Gander wants to control from the top but Nizam keeps moving. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Azrul Nizam will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gander misses with a kick to the body and Nizam counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Gander tries for a takedown but Nizam manages to get underhooks.
Nizam jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gander trying to control but Nizam is working from the bottom. Gander is pushing down on Nizam's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nizam is fighting to maintain full guard but Gander has managed to sneak the leg through. Gander seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gander is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nizam has managed to free his arm - good work. Gander is just content to waste time from the top position. Nizam takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Gander postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nizam keeping moving, preventing Gander from controlling successfully.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Pierre Gander just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Nizam shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gander looking to control.
Nizam lands a couple of elbows. Nizam with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Nizam is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gander is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gander has escaped and now he's on top! Nizam is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gander advances to half guard. Gander not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gander not landing any meaningful shots this time. Gander seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nizam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gander is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nizam won't allow Gander to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Azrul Nizam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Gander gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Nizam counters with a single leg into guard. Gander didn't expect that. Nizam must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nizam won't allow Gander to sweep him here. Nizam drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gander dives on top into guard. Gander drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nizam looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nizam looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nizam! Gander is trying to get back to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gander is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gander bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Nizam feints and as Gander raises his hands in defense, Nizam changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gander looking for subs off his back but Nizam has passed one foot through into half guard.
Nizam working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Gander makes his way to full guard, as Nizam worked for a kimura.
Nizam keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gander's head.

Nizam content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Azrul Nizam has got the better of the ground game so far. Nizam stops Gander from standing up. Nizam keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gander's head. Nizam tries to free his leg and advance position but Gander is retaining full guard. Gander throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Gander wants to sweep here but Nizam controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nizam lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nizam sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gander's guard. Gander gets full guard. Nizam content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Nizam postures up.
Nizam drops back looking for a leg! Gander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gander manages to kick Nizam off! Nizam jumps back into Gander's guard. Nizam postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Nizam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gander is keeping the position for now. Gander working a defensive guard here.
Gander is really struggling to control Nizam but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gander wants to sweep here but Nizam controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gander gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Nizam holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Azrul Nizam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Nizam has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
