Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sidney Crosby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernie Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ernie Davis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The crowd cheers as Davis lands an impressive looking overhand right. Crosby doesn't seem phased though. Excellent takedown into side control there by Crosby. Crosby working the head with strikes. Crosby throwing shots but missing, from side control. The strikes coming from Crosby are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Crosby throws a strike aimed at the side of Davis's head but Davis avoids it well. Davis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Davis wants to control but Crosby is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Crosby prevents Davis from improving his position. Davis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Crosby wants to pass the guard but Davis is defending well.

Davis cracks Crosby with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Crosby is squirming around, avoiding Davis's attempts to control the action. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Davis throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
