The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carty steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hagler. That one must have hurt.
Hagler cracks Carty with a good jab.
It looks like Mark Carty has been cut.
Carty tries to clinch up.
Carty tries to clinch but Hagler is having none of it.
Hagler wants to clinch up but Carty keeps it at a distance.
Hagler closes the distance and clinches up with Carty, looking for a takedown. Hagler pushes Carty against the cage but Carty circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hagler lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carty circles away quickly and effectively.
Hagler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carty sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hagler somewhat.

Hagler is looking to clinch but Carty is avoiding it.
Hagler checks a low kick from Carty.
Hagler goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Hagler tries to keep at a distance but Carty has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hagler is looking to control Carty's arms but Carty gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hagler has his back to the cage.
Carty turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Carty manages to end up in side control.

Carty tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hagler's legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carty trying to control the action but Hagler is working from the bottom.
Hagler is looking to regain half guard here but Carty keeps moving and retains side control.
Hagler is pushing Carty's head away, looking to escape. Carty manages to hold on to the position though.
Carty tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hagler struggling a bit here.
Carty should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hagler is trying to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carty shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hagler napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Carty wants to control but Hagler is keeping him busy.
Carty creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Hagler stops Carty from passing to mount.
Carty looks gassed!

A chopping leg kick lands by Hagler.
Carty circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carty has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hagler.
Hagler connects with a high kick.

A head kick from Hagler lands but Carty takes it in his stride.
Hagler tries to close the distance and clinch but Carty swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carty misses with a double jab
and Hagler counters with a body kick.
Hagler tries to clinch
and Carty counters with a shoot takedown. Hagler fights it but they end up in guard.
Carty wants to pass the guard but Hagler is keeping the position.
Carty won't allow Hagler to get back to his feet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hagler is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carty uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carty gets the takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carty wants to control but Hagler is keeping him busy.
Carty looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hagler is avoiding damage well.
Carty wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hagler keeps working.

The referee asks Carty politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Carty prefers to stall for the moment though.
Hagler wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hagler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hagler moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Marvin Hagler will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mark Carty's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hagler is looking to clinch.
Carty scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hagler prevents Carty from improving position.
Hagler pushes Carty away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carty gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Hagler manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Hagler seems to be looking for submissions.
Carty manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mark Carty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hagler fails with the takedown
and Carty counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hagler's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carty missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hagler is trying to control the position but Carty postures up.
Carty stops Hagler from standing up.
Hagler has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Carty should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hagler has tightened it up now! Carty should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
