PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Acter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waranhk Nsembo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nsembo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: ChessBoxin'. Waranhk Nsembo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Acter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Waranhk Nsembo!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acter swinging wildly here.
Nsembo swats away the attempt to clinch by Acter.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Acter.
Nsembo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Acter dives in and grabs Nsembo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nsembo pushes down on Acter's head and hops out.

Acter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nsembo!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Acter throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Nsembo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Acter tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Acter lands a heavy elbow.


It looks like Waranhk Nsembo has been cut.
Nsembo is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nsembo can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Acter is working for a guillotine from mount but Nsembo frees his head quite easily.
Nsembo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Acter tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Acter throws some wild stikes that Nsembo manages to avoid easily.
Nsembo tries to buck Acter off but he can't manage it.
Acter sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Acter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nsembo is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Acter thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Nsembo is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Acter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nsembo is now in Acter's guard. A big mistake from Acter there, giving up the dominant position!
Acter is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nsembo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Acter is proving hard to escape from.

Acter is looking for a triangle but Nsembo pushes his legs off easily.

Acter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nsembo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Acter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Acter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nsembo defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nsembo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Acter, up you get!
Nsembo cracks Acter with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nsembo thows a body shot but no joy.
Nsembo connects with a looping right hand.
Nsembo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Acter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Acter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Acter fails to land the takedown.
Acter tries to clinch but Nsembo is having none of it.
Acter takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Acter really is a fat lump.
Nsembo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Some bone on bone action there as Acter checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Acter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nsembo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Acter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nsembo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A combination from Nsembo does no damage.
Acter tries for a takedown but Nsembo circles away easily
and Nsembo counters with a three punch combo that has Acter backing up. Acter nods at Nsembo to acknowledge the strikes.

Acter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nsembo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Acter lands a decent elbow from side control.
Acter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Acter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Acter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Acter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nsembo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Waranhk Nsembo will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Waranhk Nsembo's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nsembo fails to land with a series of punches.
Acter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Nsembo. Nsembo obviously looking to wear him down.
Acter wants to clinch but Nsembo slips to the side
and Nsembo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Acter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nsembo paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Acter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nsembo is trying to defend but Acter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Nsembo pushes Acter off looking to stand but Acter dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Acter thows a huge punch but Nsembo dodges it nicely.
Nsembo looks like he's trying to stand up.

Nsembo is trying to stand back up but Acter is controlling him
Acter slips a nice elbow through Nsembo's hands, connecting with Nsembo's forehead.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Acter in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Nsembo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Acter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Acter!
