Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hicks's entrance music is I'm Back. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Drew Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erik Jones!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hicks.
Jones checks a leg kick.
Hicks throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Hicks tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hicks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hicks to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hicks content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hicks postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.
Hicks wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hicks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hicks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hicks wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hicks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones tries to clinch there but Hicks circles away.
Hicks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hicks paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Drew Hicks has been cut.

Hicks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Hicks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hicks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jones wants to control but Hicks is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jones pushes Hicks off and gets back to his feet.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Jones.
Hicks tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hicks closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Hicks pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hicks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hicks swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Hicks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hicks swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hicks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hicks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hicks has Jones in his guard.

Hicks shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones tries to pass to full mount but Hicks defends it.
Drew Hicks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hicks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Erik Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hicks is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.

Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

I would just about give that final round to Erik Jones.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
