PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fabian Cameron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Imran Shaah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaah has chosen Time to Say Goodbye as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cameron closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cameron lands in his opponent's guard.
Shaah is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cameron is controlling him.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Cameron looking to pass the guard.
Cameron stops Shaah from standing up.
Shaah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Shaah moves in looking to clinch but Cameron pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cameron tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shaah sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cameron somewhat.

Cameron feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cameronis looking to pass into half guard but Shaah pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Shaah is in guard.
Shaah scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cameron manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Cameron is trying to take his opponent's back.

Cameron with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Cameron has hold of Shaah's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shaah manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Shaah is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Cameron with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Cameron goes for an armbar but Shaah turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shaah.

Cameron drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cameron jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd cheers as Shaah lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cameron doesn't seem phased though.
Shaah looks to throw the jab but Cameron is out of range.
Cameron swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Shaah has Cameron up against the ropes in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Imran Shaah will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cameron dives in and grabs Shaah's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaah pushes down on Cameron's head and hops out.
Shaah scores with a one two! Cameron had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Shaah feints and as Cameron raises his hands in defense, Shaah changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cameron is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cameron has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shaah can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cameron goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Shaah is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cameron can't keep his opponent in guard - Shaah advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shaah tries to stand and escape but Cameron is controlling the position.
Shaah looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Cameron is doing well to control the position and prevent Shaah from advancing to side control.
Cameron has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shaah is working away from the top position though.
Cameron is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shaah's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shaah's back!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Cameron is looking for a rear naked choke here but Shaah reverses the position brilliantly into Cameron's guard!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shaah accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Shaah must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shaah postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Cameron has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shaah can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Shaah wants to pass the guard but Cameron is keeping the position.
Shaah lands a couple of digs.
Shaah connects with a couple of short punches.

Imran Shaah showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Shaah is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Cameron off. It looks like it's working - Cameron slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Shaah displaying calm under pressure there.
Imran Shaah is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cameron shoots in for a double leg but Shaah sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shaah misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shaah looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Imran Shaah comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shaah has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
