Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pawel Rak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Adamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tomasz Adamek has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pawel Rak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomasz Adamek!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rak shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rak scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rak thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Adamek's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Adamek is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Rak misses with the ground and pound.
Rak lands a few punches from side control.
Rak working away.

Rak tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rak has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rak working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rak is breathing heavily.
Rak tries to advance to mount but can't.
Adamek wants to control but Rak postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Rak counters with a shoot takedown. Adamek fights it but they end up in guard.
Adamek not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rak is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Adamek is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Adamek has escaped and now he's on top!

Adamek is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Adamek doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Adamek manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Adamek is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Adamek drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Adamek jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Rak counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Adamek!
Adamek is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rak with shots to the head and body - Adamek looks very uncomfortable down there.
Adamek is looking to improve his position but Rak isn't that keen on the idea.
Adamek has given up his back here. Will Rak look for the submission or keep pounding away?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adamek trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Rak is looking for the choke from the back position but Adamek is controlling his hands well.
Adamek looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Rak cracks Adamek with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Adamek from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Rak is persistently looking for the submission but Adamek is defending it well.
Rak scores with punches and elbows.
Rak throws strikes from the back but Adamek rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Adamek.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rak drops back looking for a leg! Adamek is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Adamek manages to kick Rak off! Rak jumps back into Adamek's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Adamek throws a right and a left that Rak avoids nicely.
Adamek scores with a one two! Rak had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Adamek swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Rak shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Adamek as he jumps to the side.
Rak fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Rak counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Adamek's guard now.
Rak in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Rak drops back looking for a leg! Adamek is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Adamek manages to kick Rak off! Rak jumps back into Adamek's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pawel Rak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rak thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rak walks into a stiff left hand from Adamek.
Adamek connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rak momentarily.

Adamek closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rak uses his free foot to push down on Adamek's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Adamek.

Adamek tries to lock up and control but Rak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Rak has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Adamek is forced to tap!
