Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Descartes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Everaldo Jorge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Descartes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wave of Mutilation by the Pixies. Antonio Descartes could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Everaldo Jorge's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Descartes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Everaldo Jorge!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Descartes.
Jorge shoots in but Descartes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Descartes blocks a head kick by Jorge.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Descartes - that will leave a mark!
Everaldo Jorge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jorge, as that shot connected.

Descartes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Descartes working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Jorge can't break the clinch.

Descartes has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head and Jorge goes down! Descartes dives on top of him - Jorge manages to get guard.


Jorge is rocked!


It looks like Everaldo Jorge has been cut.
Descartes passes Jorge's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jorge is still in real trouble! Can Descartes finish him?
Jorge is trying to maintain the position but Descartes is very close to passing his half guard.
Jorge avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Descartes.
Descartes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jorge is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Descartes pulls his head out easily.
Descartes tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Jorge is looking to control Descartes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jorge avoid being mounted?
Jorge wants to control the action here but instead Descartes manages to pass to full mount!
Jorge seems to have recovered his senses.
Jorge is trying desperately to improve position.
Descartes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Descartes throws some wild stikes that Jorge manages to avoid easily.

Descartes with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jorge manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Descartes is breathing heavily.
Descartes trying to pass the guard but Jorge defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jorge is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jorge is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Descartes seems to be working for a kimura but Jorge defends the submission attempt.
Jorge is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Descartes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Descartes's back!
Descartes prevents Jorge from getting a body triangle.

Jorge is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Despite being in the dominant position, Everaldo Jorge just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Descartes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jorge jumps guard but Descartes stands there with Jorge around his waist. Jorge gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jorge fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Antonio Descartes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Everaldo Jorge.
Jorge takes an elbow to the temple.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Descartes unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jorge lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Descartes scores with a knee to the head.

Descartes has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jorge regains guard immediately.
Descartes wants to get up but he can't break Jorge's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Descartes stands and steps away. Jorge gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Descartes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jorge gets full guard.

Jorge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Descartes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Descartes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Descartes shoots in and bounces Jorge off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jorge trying to control the position.
Jorge is pulling down on Descartes's head to control his posture.
Jorge is trying to control the position but Descartes postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Descartes tries to free his leg and advance position but Jorge is retaining full guard.
Jorge not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Descartes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jorge misses with a takedown attempt

and Descartes counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Descartes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jorge swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jorge controls Descartes momentarily but Descartes frees himself.
Descartes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Descartes wants to control from the top but Jorge keeps moving.
Descartes pushing down on Jorge's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Descartes decides to stand up.
Descartes is looking to slow Jorge down with leg kicks.

Descartes scores a takedown into full mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Descartes throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Jorge because Descartes loaded up on that one.
Jorge tries to lock up and control but Descartes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Descartes thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Descartes is trying to take his opponent's back.
Jorge keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Descartes looking to secure an arm triangle but Jorge defends it well.
Jorge working to try and regain half guard.

Jorge tries to hold on but Descartes postures up.
Jorge might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Descartes kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jorge is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Jorge wants to hold on but Descartes pushes him away.
Jorge sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jorge moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Descartes trying to control but Jorge is working from the bottom.
Descartes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jorge avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Descartes wants to control from the top but Jorge keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jorge fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Descartes goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


That has opened up Everaldo Jorge's cut even more.

Descartes clinches with his opponent.
Descartes lands a knee to the body.
Descartes crunches a lovely knee into Jorge's ribcage.
Jorge tries for a takedown but Descartes manages to get underhooks.

Descartes has hold of one of Jorge's legs. Jorge is fighting the takedown attempt but Descartes gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Descartes is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jorge has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Descartes is looking to defend but Jorge has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Descartes! Jorge pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Descartes taps out and this one is all over!
