Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tito Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giril Kovalenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kovalenko's choice of entrance music: Judas Priest - Grinder. Tito Hopkins could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Giril Kovalenko's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Hopkins.
Kovalenko moves out of range as Hopkins strikes.
Kovalenko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kovalenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kovalenko tries to advance to mount but Hopkins denies him.
Kovalenko fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kovalenko throwing strikes but Hopkins manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Kovalenko is trying to control Hopkins's posture but Hopkins avoids it.

Kovalenko tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hopkins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hopkins tries to get to his feet but Kovalenko is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Hopkins in his guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hopkins cracks Kovalenko with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kovalenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kovalenko looks up at the clock and then as Hopkins takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kovalenko smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Hopkins is looking to stand up but Kovalenko won't let him.

Kovalenko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hopkins throws a combination. Kovalenko tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Kovalenko tries to clinch there but Hopkins circles away.

Kovalenko doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kovalenko is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hopkins's half guard.

Hopkins throws a hook to the side of Kovalenko's head but Kovalenko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kovalenko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hopkins does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hopkins throws a low kick, looking for Kovalenko's leg but Kovalenko calmly moves out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Hopkins counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Hopkins scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Hopkins fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kovalenko on the side of the head.
Kovalenko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tito Hopkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Giril Kovalenko.
