PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yusuke Kamasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamasaki has chosen Czas Na Walke as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ribeiro has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Yusuke Kamasaki has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jack Ribeiro's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yusuke Kamasaki!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ribeiro wants it to stay on the feet.
Kamasaki throws a series of punches but Ribeiro moves out of range.
Kamasaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ribeiro lands a jab-cross combination.
Kamasaki misses the shot to the body.
Ribeiro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kamasaki paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kamasaki closes the distance and pushes Ribeiro back into the cage.

Kamasaki pulls guard successfully.
Kamasaki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ribeiro won't allow Kamasaki to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kamasaki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ribeiro manages to get himself to full guard.

Kamasaki stands and steps away. Ribeiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ribeiro is breathing heavily.

Ribeiro leaves Kamasaki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kamasaki moves in looking to clinch but Ribeiro pushes him off.
Kamasaki lands with a kick to the temple. Ribeiro shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Ribeiro lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kamasaki backwards.
Kamasaki tries to break the clinch but Ribeiro is controlling the position.

Kamasaki tries to pull guard but Ribeiro holds him up against the cage and eventually Kamasaki drops back down to his feet.
Jack Ribeiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yusuke Kamasaki.
Kamasaki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kamasaki ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kamasaki no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ribeiro avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ribeiro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kamasaki striking off his back but it's not causing Ribeiro any problems.
Ribeiro wants to stand but Kamasaki has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kamasaki seems keen to control Ribeiro's posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ribeiro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ribeiro gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kamasaki controlling from the top position.
Ribeiro is looking to stand up but Kamasaki isn't so interested in that idea.
Kamasaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kamasaki stands and steps away. Ribeiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ribeiro avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kamasaki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kamasaki looking to control but instead Ribeiro has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

Kamasaki is pressing down on Ribeiro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ribeiro is holding on for now.

Kamasaki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ribeiro defends it well.
Kamasaki slows the pace down in half guard.

Ribeiro wants to get back to his feet.
Kamasaki is controlling the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kamasaki is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Kamasaki stands up from mount. Strange move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yusuke Kamasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Kamasaki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ribeiro sprawls well initially but Kamasaki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ribeiro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kamasaki jumps guard but Ribeiro stands there with Kamasaki around his waist. Kamasaki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kamasaki pulls guard effortlessly.
Kamasaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ribeiro's guard.
Ribeiro can't keep his opponent in guard - Kamasaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ribeiro tries to kick Kamasaki off but Kamasaki keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ribeiro tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kamasaki manages to move to mount!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Yusuke Kamasaki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ribeiro is trying to stand but he's just given Kamasaki his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kamasaki has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ribeiro's body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yusuke Kamasaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kamasaki winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
