Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyril Kivel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimbo Slice has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimbo Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cyril Kivel!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice throws the kick towards the body but Kivel avoids it.

Slice closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kivel to the mat! Kivel manages to get full guard.
Slice pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kivel is keeping the position for now.
Slice looking to sit in guard and control but Kivel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kivel sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kivel wants to control from the top but Slice keeps moving.
Slice looking for a sweep. Not yet Slice, not yet.
Slice is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kivel gets to his feet. Slice looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kivel shoots and misses
and Slice counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kivel thinking.
Kivel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slice circles away quickly and effectively.
Kivel leaves Slice with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Slice gets a clinch.
Slice has Kivel pressed against the cage, preventing Kivel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kivel tries for a takedown. No joy.

Kivel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kivel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Slice is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kivel is controlling him well.
Slice regains half guard.
Kivel content to control rather than advance.
Kivel is trying to control the action in half guard but Slice is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kivel looks gassed!

Kivel missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Slice trying to control from the bottom.
Kivel lands with a punch from half guard.

Kivel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are battling for position here. Slice manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Kivel trying to control the position from guard on top but Slice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kivel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Slice wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kivel is now in half guard.
Kivel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Slice knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Slice wants to control but Kivel is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kivel slows the pace down in half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Slice regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kivel passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kivel working the body and head with strikes.
Slice struggling a bit here.
Slice tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kivel has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cyril Kivel dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Slice throws a head kick that misses.

Kivel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Slice manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kivel looking to sit in guard and control but Slice gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slice loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kivel is working an open guard so Slice takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kivel clinches but Slice breaks the clinch

and Slice counters with a takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kivel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Slice has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Slice trying to control the action but Kivel is working from the bottom.
Kivel tries to escape but Slice is in control.
Cyril Kivel has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kivel sneaks back into half guard.
Slice slows the pace down in half guard.
Kivel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Slice.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Slice decides to stand and escape the position.
A combination from Kivel does no damage.
Kivel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Slice.
Nice sprawl there from Kivel as Slice shoots in.

Kivel shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Slice is trying to defend but Kivel finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kivel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kivel is thwarting Slice's attempts to control the position.

Kivel escapes and gets back to his feet.
Slice fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kivel manages to avoid it.
Kivel throws a nice inside leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kivel lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Slice has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Slice and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Kivel throws a left and a right that both miss

and Slice moves into the clinch.

Kivel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Slice wants to control from the top but Kivel keeps moving.
Slice wants to stand and escape but instead Kivel has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cyril Kivel will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Slice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!



Slice instigates a clinch.
Kivel landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Slice trying to stall but Kivel improves his position.
Slice wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kivel looking for a takedown.
A knee to the head by Kivel.
Kivel with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Slice works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Slice wants to control from the top but Kivel keeps moving.
Slice throwing strikes but missing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kivel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Slice!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kivel get's back to his feet.

Slice tries to keep at a distance but Kivel has taken the fight into the clinch.

Kivel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kivel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Slice as he avoids it easily.
Kivel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slice swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Slice counters by clinching up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kivel drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Slice gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jimbo Slice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cyril Kivel.

Kivel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slice gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Slice is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Slice looking for a guillotine here but Kivel defends easily.
Kivel won't allow Slice to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kivel looking to pass the guard.

Slice looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kivel passes into half guard.
Slice trying to hold on to Kivel's head to control him but Kivel postures up.
Kivel landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Kivel decides to stand up.
Kivel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Slice tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kivel tries to clinch up

and Slice counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kivel is trying to control the position but Slice postures up.

Slice stands up and waves to Kivel to follow him.

Slice shoots in and bounces Kivel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jimbo Slice has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cyril Kivel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Slice drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kivel dives on top into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimbo Slice.
I think Kivel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
