The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merit closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zabrawski circles away.
Nice body kick there by Merit.
Zabrawski fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mike Merit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zabrawski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Merit looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zabrawski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Merit for as long as he can get away with.

Merit pushes Zabrawski away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Zabrawski gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Zabrawski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Merit knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Merit throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Zabrawski on the side of the head.
It looks like Jonas Zabrawski has been cut.
Merit misses with a few strikes there.
Merit steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Zabrawski is out on his feet! Merit sets himself and nearly takes Zabrawski's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
