Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Aldo could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Christian Rivera's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Rivera! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rivera is defended easily by Aldo. Rivera fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Rivera shoots in for a takedown but Aldo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Rivera. Rivera avoids a punch combination nicely.
A combination from Aldo does no damage. Aldo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Rivera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aldo but Aldo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rivera takes a body punch but keeps moving. Rivera shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aldo's guard. Rivera stopping the sweep attempt from Aldo. Aldo is pulling down on Rivera's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera wants to pass the guard but Aldo is keeping the position. Aldo has control of Rivera's left arm, preventing Rivera from doing any damage. Rivera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Aldo is keeping the position for now. Rivera stopping the sweep attempt from Aldo. Rivera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aldo's guard. Aldo trying to hold on to Rivera's head to control him but Rivera postures up.
Rivera wants to work for an arm triangle but Aldo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rivera prevents Aldo from improving his position. Aldo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aldo tries to get out of the position. Rivera is working for a submission of some sort.
Rivera is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Aldo defends it well. Rivera looks gassed! Rivera is thwarting Aldo's attempts to control the position. Aldo has his hands clasped together around Rivera's back. He's all about the action. Rivera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rivera.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo gets back to full guard.
Rivera is fighting to break Aldo's control of his arms but Aldo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Aldo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rivera trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rivera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Rivera forces his way into half guard. Aldo gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rivera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rivera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Aldo seems keen to control Rivera's posture. Rivera wants to pass the guard but Aldo is keeping the position. Rivera advances position into side control! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. What's Aldo going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. You can see the frustration on Aldo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Aldo will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Aldo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. No luck with that takedown attempt from Rivera. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rivera is defended easily by Aldo. Rivera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Rivera. Aldo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Aldo prevents Rivera from taking his back. Rivera is breathing heavily. Aldo wants to hold on but Rivera pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rivera. Aldo wants to hold on but Rivera pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aldo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Aldo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Jose Aldo just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Rivera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aldo swivels and escapes. Aldo leaves Rivera with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Aldo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rivera. Rivera gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Aldo. Christian Rivera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rivera takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A cross from Aldo lands. Aldo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Aldo's corner calls for a 1-2. Aldo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Aldo drops Rivera with a beautiful combination! Rivera stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Aldo is looking for the KO!
Rivera is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aldo drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Rivera's head, knocking him out cold! Aldo is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jose Aldo!
