Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rice Pilaf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tricta Phan!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pilaf cracks Phan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Pilaf swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Phan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pilaf.
Pilaf misses with a wild body shot.
Phan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rice Pilaf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pilaf stuns Phan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Phan gets caught flat footed, as Pilaf shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Pilaf controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pilaf tries to stand but Phan is controlling from the bottom.
Pilaf slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Phan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pilaf gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pilaf trying to control the position from guard on top but Phan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pilaf tries to stand but Phan is controlling from the bottom.
Phan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pilaf is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pilaf won't allow Phan to sweep him here.
Phan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Pilaf is breathing heavily.
Pilaf is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pilaf tries to clinch up.
Pilaf moves into the clinch successfully.
Pilaf breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Pilaf. No joy for Phan on that attempt.
Phan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pilaf.
Pilaf shoots in but no luck this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pilaf throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phan misses with the combination.
Pilaf throws a left and a right that both miss
and Phan counters with a stiff right hand.
Pilaf shoots in and drives through. Phan sprawls well.
Phan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pilaf's waist but Pilaf gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Phan off to one side.
Pilaf tries to clinch but Phan is having none of it.
Pilaf throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Phan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Phan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Phan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Phan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pilaf throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Phan.
Pilaf looks to score with a jab to the body but Phan is just out of range.
Pilaf tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Phan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Phan wants to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Pilaf or perhaps it was just good defense by Phan which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rice Pilaf. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pilaf rushes Phan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pilaf breaks from the clinch.
Pilaf swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Phan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
No joy there for Phan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A left and a right from Phan both land. Nice combination.
Pilaf swings away with a body shot that misses
and Phan counters with a stiff right hand.
Phan has a takedown stuffed.
Pilaf swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Phan counters with a series of strikes. Pilaf will be more careful next time no doubt.
Pilaf fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Phan sprawls well initially but Pilaf persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pilaf decides to stand up.
Pilaf tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Pilaf throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Phan on the side of the head.

and Phan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Pilaf misses with a double jab
and Phan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pilaf closes the distance and clinches up with Phan, looking for a takedown. Pilaf pushes Phan against the cage but Phan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pilaf tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pilaf misses with a combination
and Phan counters with a two punch combo.
Pilaf falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pilaf takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Phan is working the combinations to good effect here.
Pilaf fails with the takedown.
Pilaf is looking to wear down Phan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pilaf closes the distance looking for a takedown. Phan stuffs it but Pilaf still has hold of him. Pilaf picks Phan up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Pilaf slams Phan to the floor and that's really hurt Phan - he doesn't know where he is! Pilaf throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rice Pilaf!
