Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Greg Rego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Rego! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jorge Vega! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vega showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rego.
Rego fails in his attempt to clinch. Vega is looking to clinch. Vega shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rego defends it nicely. Vega lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Rego keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Vega shoots in but no luck this time. Greg Rego has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Vega. Rego misses with the combination.
Greg Rego seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rego looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Vega! Rego throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Vega bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rego wants to stand up but Vega is controlling him. Vega trying to control but Rego is working from the bottom. Vega wants to pass the guard but Rego is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Vega wants to control from the top but Rego keeps moving. Vega might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rego kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rego closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rego lands in his opponent's guard. Rego with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rego passes Vega's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rego is trying to control. Vega wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Vega is doing well to control the position and prevent Rego from advancing to side control. Vega is looking to escape. Rego working over Vega with some ground and pound. Vega looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Vega is trying to maintain the position but Rego is very close to passing his half guard. Rego is trying to control the action in half guard but Vega is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Vega trying to control here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rego trying to control from half guard but Vega is working away. Vega gets back to full guard.
Vega seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Regois looking to pass into half guard but Vega pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Vega is in guard. Rego knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vega on the ground. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rego wants to stand and escape but Vega is having none of it. Rego is breathing heavily. Vega trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rego's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greg Rego dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Rego fails in his attempt to clinch. Vega misses with a takedown attempt and Rego counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rego. Vega bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rego's guard. Vega controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Rego on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rego tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rego trying to control from the bottom.
Vega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rego's head. Vega escapes and gets back to his feet. Rego takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Vega stuffs the takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rego lands with a thumping leg kick.
Vega fails with the takedown and Rego counters with a single leg into guard. Vega didn't expect that. Vega wants to sweep but no luck. Rego wants to control from the top but Vega keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vega has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rego can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vega looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vega is trying to control the position but Rego postures up. Vega avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Rego is looking to stand up but Vega won't let him. Vega tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rego tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Vega counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rego wants to get back to his feet but Vega is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Vega trying to control the position from guard on top but Rego is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vega looking to sit in guard and control but Rego gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Greg Rego will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Vega displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rego. Rego shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vega as he jumps to the side. Rego shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vega as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Rego. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vega fails with the takedown. Vega throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vega shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rego counters with a three punch combo that has Vega backing up. Vega nods at Rego to acknowledge the strikes. Vega shoots and misses and Rego counters with a head kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vega tries for a takedown but Rego circles away easily and Rego counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rego looking to pass the guard. Vega looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rego is one step ahead there. Vega is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rego slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Vega is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rego defends well. Rego has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Vega is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rego is aware though and is defending well. Vega looking for a sweep. Not yet Vega, not yet. Rego lands a couple of digs. Rego is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Rego throws a big right hand that misses. Vega tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rego thows a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rego trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Vega throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rego is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rego lands with a kick to the ribs.
Vega takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Rego tries to clinch but Vega moves away and Vega counters with a nice kick to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. A left and a right from Vega both land. Nice combination. Rego changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vega looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rego tries to score with some ground and pound. Vega controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Rego working away. Vega manages to get back to half guard. Vega actively working from the bottom here. Vega has hold of Rego's hands but Rego slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jorge Vega has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rego throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Greg Rego is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Vega is looking for a sweep. Rego is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that's the end of the fight! Greg Rego showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rego, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
