Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Stavros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Povetkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stavros tries to score a power double leg takedown but Povetkin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stavros somewhat.
Povetkin ducks under a wild hook from Stavros.
Stavros shoots in but no luck this time.
Stavros shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Povetkin but Povetkin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Stavros. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Povetkin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Stavros counters with a nice double leg into side control. Povetkin won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stavros remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Povetkin regains half guard there - taking advantage of Stavros's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Povetkin wants to control but Stavros is keeping busy.

Stavros cracks Povetkin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Povetkin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stavros pulls his head out easily.

Stavros slips a nice elbow through Povetkin's hands, connecting with Povetkin's forehead.
Stavros thows a huge punch but Povetkin dodges it nicely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stavros connects with a nice short shot to Povetkin's temple.

Stavros is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Povetkin sees it coming and defends easily.
Stavros is trying to control. Povetkin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Povetkin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Povetkin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stavros kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Povetkin stays in close to Stavros's body and controls the position.

Povetkin throws a strike but Stavros rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Stavros slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stavros drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Povetkin dives on top into guard.
Povetkin is looking to advance position but Stavros has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Stavros decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Povetkin's guard.
Stavros cracks Povetkin with a solid left hand.

Stavros looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Stavros is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Povetkin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Povetkin shrugs it off.
The referee warns Povetkin that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stavros will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Stavros lands a shot to the head.
Stavros gets his hands free as Povetkin looks to control.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Stavros here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Stavros lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Can Povetkin hold on?! Stavros is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
