Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Kusco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kusco might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Not Afraid. John Thomas has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Kusco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Thomas! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Kusco looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Kusco takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Thomas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kusco's waist but Kusco gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thomas off to one side. Thomas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thomas shoots for a takedown but Kusco saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A good leg kick by Thomas. Horrible takedown by Thomas or perhaps it was just good defense by Kusco which made him look bad. Jake Kusco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Thomas. Thomas scoring well with a low kick there.
Thomas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Thomas fails with a takedown attempt. A chopping leg kick lands by Thomas. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thomas thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kusco if he has to take too many more of those.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kusco sprawls well. Kusco wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thomas gets slowly back to his feet. Thomas moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Thomas throws a right and a left that Kusco avoids nicely. Thomas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kusco is working to avoid the ground and pound but Thomas connects with a decent elbow. Thomas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Thomas is chipping away with strikes.
Thomas tries to score with some ground and pound. Kusco controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Thomas working the head with strikes. Thomas throws a strike aimed at the side of Kusco's head but Kusco avoids it well. Thomas works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Thomas connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kusco some visible discomfort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas cracks Kusco with a big elbow. Thomas lands some shots froms side control. Thomas scores with a couple of short elbows. Kusco can't do much from the bottom here. Kusco is trying to improve his position. Check out the look on Thomas's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Thomas throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kusco tries to bench press Thomas off him but Thomas keeps the position. The ground and pound from Thomas seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Thomas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kusco is fending him off so far but Thomas persists. Nope, Kusco circles away and we're back to standing. Kusco showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Thomas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch but Kusco swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Thomas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Thomas plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Kusco stuffs the takedown. John Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. He's simply no match for Thomas on the ground. Kusco keeping moving, preventing Thomas from controlling successfully. Kusco pulls Thomas in close to his closed guard and prevents Thomas from doing any damage or advancing position. Thomas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thomas explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Thomas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kusco cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kusco takes a kick to the side of the head. Thomas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Thomas avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Thomas is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kusco's half guard. Thomas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Thomas delivers a nice body kick. Thomas fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kusco paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jake Kusco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kusco takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

and Kusco counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kusco is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Thomas misses with the combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas is thwarting Kusco's attempts to control the position. Kusco wants to get back to full guard. Thomas thows a huge punch but Kusco dodges it nicely.

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kusco's head. Thomas missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Thomas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Thomas throws a combination. Kusco tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Thomas throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Kusco is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Good leg kick by Thomas there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Thomas is working an open guard so Kusco takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. A telegraphed right hand from Kusco misses the target. Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jake Kusco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! John Thomas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Thomas fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Kusco. Well Thomas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
