The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hilton tries to clinch but Ackhbar moves out of range.
Ackhbar clinches but Hilton breaks the clinch
and Hilton counters with a series of strikes. Ackhbar will be more careful next time no doubt.
Ackhbar tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hilton counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Ackhbar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ackhbar cracks Hilton with a good jab.

and Hilton counters with a single leg into guard. Ackhbar didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hilton stops Ackhbar from standing up.
Hilton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ackhbar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hilton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hilton will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ackhbar leaves Hilton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hilton misses the shot to the body.
Verno Ackhbar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
