Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mick Drury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ground Pound!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drury thows a body shot but no joy.
Pound closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Drury to the mat! Drury manages to get full guard.
Drury is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Drury is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Drury pulls Pound in to control the position.
Drury working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pound doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pound manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Drury is looking for a triangle but Pound pushes his legs off easily.
Pound thows a big elbow that misses.
Pound stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drury swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pound throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drury throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Drury is looking for a triangle but Pound pushes his legs off easily.
Pound must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Drury is trying to control the position but Pound postures up.
Drury wants to sweep here but Pound controlling him for the moment.
Drury is breathing heavily.

Drury tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pound stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pound wants it to stay on the feet.
Drury shoots in but no luck this time.
Pound gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pound has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Drury is trying to keep an underhook but Pound manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Drury is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pound scores with a couple of nice shots.

Pound wants to take a breather but Drury is having none of it.
Drury tries to get to full guard but Pound has control of the leg.
Pound takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Pound wants to control but Drury is keeping him busy.

Drury regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pound stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drury swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Drury is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pound is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Pound working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Pound tries to free his leg and advance position but Drury is retaining full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pound shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Drury gets back to full guard.

Drury looking for a sweep. Not yet Drury, not yet.
Pound got a little sloppy there for a moment and Drury has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pound has managed to get both his arms back between Drury's legs - danger averted.
Pound is in close to Drury's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pound postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pound has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Drury to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Pound is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Drury pulls down on the head and he's put Pound to sleep! This one is all over!
