Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cain Marco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, AJ Hemingway!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hemingway's waist but Hemingway gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marco off to one side.
Hemingway buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Marco closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hemingway is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hemingway is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Marco drops an elbow to the side of Hemingway's head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hemingway can do anything to dispel that myth.
Marco throwing shots but Hemingway is blocking nicely.
Hemingway trying to control but Marco postures up.
Marco wants to pass to mount but Hemingway is defending the position.
Hemingway is looking to get back to full guard here but Marco has managed to pass to side control instead.
Hemingway wants to hold on but Marco pushes him away.
Marco pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hemingway is desperately trying to improve his position but Marco has a good base and remains in mount.
Marco unloading with bombs!
Marco connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
A nice elbow there by Marco.
Marco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A big strike lands for Marco! That's really hurt Hemingway and he's turned his back - Marco keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Marco jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
