PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boxing Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ludwig Manres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manres has chosen Aqualung - Jethro Tull as his entrance music. Ludwig Manres has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Boxing Boss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ludwig Manres!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boss gets caught flat footed, as Manres shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Boss on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boss tries to get out of the position.
Boss keeping moving, preventing Manres from controlling successfully.
Manres pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boss is keeping the position for now.

Manres thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Manres prevents Boss from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manres pushes down on Boss's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Manres moves nicely into side control.
Manres misses with the ground and pound.
Boss can't do much from the bottom here.
Manres has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boss is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Manres has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Boss!

Boss is looking to improve his position but Manres isn't that keen on the idea.

Manres is landing with some decent strikes but Boss is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Manres has hold of Boss's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Boss manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Boss is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Boss is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Manres fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Manres looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Manres cracks Boss with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Boss tries to lock up and control but Manres gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Manres with shots to the head and body - Boss looks very uncomfortable down there.
Manres wants to control the pace but Boss is squirming around nicely.

Manres is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Boss to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Boss shrugs it off.
Boss is trying to escape the mount.
Boss is breathing heavily.

Manres is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Boss has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Manres jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Boss manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Manres tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Manres has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boss is trying to control Manres's posture but Manres avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Manres working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ludwig Manres dominated that round.
That's time! Boss's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Manres fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Manres will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Boss misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Boss punishes Manres's body with a nice straight punch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Manres can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boss is looking to escape.
Boss is in a horrible position here. Manres smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Manres has control of Boss's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Boss regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Boss is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Manres locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Boss is forced to tap!
