Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Kalashnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waldemar Ulrich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ulrich comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Sacred War kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Kalashnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Waldemar Ulrich!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ulrich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ulrich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kalashnikov defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ulrich.
Ulrich avoids the attempt from Kalashnikov to control.

Ulrich looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ulrich fails to advance to Kalashnikov's back.
Kalashnikov wants to control but Ulrich is having none of it.

Ulrich has hold of Kalashnikov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kalashnikov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ulrich looking to secure an arm triangle but Kalashnikov defends it well.

Kalashnikov tries to lock up and control but Ulrich gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kalashnikov sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kalashnikov is doing well to control the position and prevent Ulrich from advancing to side control.
Kalashnikov wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kalashnikov wants to control but Ulrich is having none of it.

Ulrich with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ulrich jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kalashnikov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kalashnikov and Ulrich has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Kalashnikov is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ulrich is controlling him well.
Ulrich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kalashnikov keeps working.
Kalashnikov is trying to control Ulrich's posture but Ulrich avoids it.

Ulrich is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kalashnikov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kalashnikov is positioning himself well to prevent Ulrich advancing to mount.
Kalashnikov wants to control the action here but instead Ulrich manages to pass to full mount!

Ulrich is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kalashnikov defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Kalashnikov doesn't manage to clinch there - Ulrich circles away.
Ulrich shoots in for a takedown but Kalashnikov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Kalashnikov goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ulrich is on top in guard.

Ulrich drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ulrich jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ulrich drops back looking for a leg! Kalashnikov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kalashnikov manages to kick Ulrich off! Ulrich jumps back into Kalashnikov's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Ulrich counters with a single leg into guard. Kalashnikov didn't expect that.

Ulrich drops back looking for a leg! Kalashnikov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kalashnikov manages to kick Ulrich off! Ulrich jumps back into Kalashnikov's guard.
Ulrich is breathing heavily.

Ulrich is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ulrich thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ulrich passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kalashnikov is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Ulrich thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ulrich tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ulrich has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ulrich tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Waldemar Ulrich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ulrich looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ulrich seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Kalashnikov has left one of his arms exposed and Ulrich doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kalashnikov screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
