PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan McGraw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera's entrance music is Go hard or go home - E-40. A fine choice. The key to victory for Michael Rivera has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan McGraw!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivera has managed to clinch.
McGraw looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rivera wants to get back to striking at distance but McGraw won't allow it.
McGraw tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McGraw tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rivera smiles and moves away.
Rivera lands a nice leg kick that just misses McGraw's sensitive parts.
Rivera tries to clinch up but McGraw circles away and keeps his distance.
McGraw looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Michael Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan McGraw.

Rivera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rivera stands up and beckons McGraw to his feet.

Rivera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McGraw sprawls well initially but Rivera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rivera not doing much here.
McGraw wants to control but Rivera is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rivera lands a nice short elbow.
Rivera slips a nice elbow through McGraw's hands, connecting with McGraw's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGraw wants to sweep but Rivera has passed to side control!
McGraw taking punishment in the form of punches.

Rivera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rivera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
McGraw trying his best to control but Rivera has mounted him.

McGraw is in all sorts of trouble here.

McGraw manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rivera wants to free his trapped foot but McGraw is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McGraw regains full guard. Nicely done.
McGraw can't keep his opponent in guard - Rivera advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Rivera prevents McGraw from improving his position.
Rivera blocks the strikes from McGraw.
McGraw trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGraw tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
McGraw tries to get to full guard but Rivera has control of the leg.
McGraw misses with some strikes from the bottom.
McGraw tries to kick Rivera off but Rivera keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Rivera tries to clinch up.
Rivera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rivera drops McGraw with a left right combo! Rivera follows him down to the ground into side control.


McGraw is rocked!

McGraw is still in real trouble! Can Rivera finish him?

Rivera tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rivera gets to mount! McGraw was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Rivera is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. McGraw is in real trouble.

Rivera is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. McGraw has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Rivera has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! McGraw taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Rivera doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Michael Rivera!
