Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damian Maia!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane leaves Maia with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Maia shoots in and drives through. Kane sprawls well.
Maia shoots in for a takedown but Kane shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Devin Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Maia.
Kane has his takedown stuffed
and Maia counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kane shoots and misses
and Maia counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kane's guard now.
Maia stands and throws Kane's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kane is not content to let Maia control the position.
Maia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kane wants to get back to his feet but Maia drags him back down.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maia tries for a kimura but Kane is defending well.
Kane pushes Maia away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maia gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Maia tries to advance to mount but can't.
Maia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kane is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Maia has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Kane is trying to control Maia's posture but Maia avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Maia off and has taken his back!
Kane is striking well from the back but Maia escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Kane throws a strike but Maia avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kane in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kane throws a big right hand that misses.
Kane trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Maia keeping moving, preventing Kane from controlling successfully.

Maia preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kane is looking to work some ground and pound but Maia has wrist control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kane with a lazy takedown attempt
and Maia counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Maia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Maia looks gassed!
Kane manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Kane clinches.
Kane lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Kane is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kane not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kane is just content to waste time from the top position. Maia takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kane has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Maia working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kane.
Kane missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Maia keeping moving, preventing Kane from controlling successfully.
Kane seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Damian Maia dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kane shoots and misses
and Maia counters with a series of strikes. Kane will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Maia counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Damian Maia has got the better of the ground game so far.
Maia passes to full mount!
Maia swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kane is now in Maia's guard. A big mistake from Maia there, giving up the dominant position!
Kane looking to sit in guard and control but Maia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Maia advances position into side control!
Maia is breathing heavily.

Kane can't do much from the bottom here.
Kane is looking for a sweep.
Kane pushes Maia away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maia gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Maia wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kane, who protects the arm well.
Maia in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kane is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
