1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kendrick Perkins! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perkins shoots in for a takedown but Kierkegaard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Kierkegaard keeps the fight on the outside. Perkins pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Perkins tries to clinch but Kierkegaard moves out of range. Perkins fails in his attempt to clinch. Perkins is looking to clinch but Kierkegaard is avoiding it.
Perkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kierkegaard paws at him with a jab and circles away. Perkins tries a head kick but it misses.
Perkins looks to land a combination but Kierkegaard avoids it well. Perkins misses with a body kick. Perkins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kendrick Perkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkins is looking to clinch but Kierkegaard is avoiding it.

Perkins moves in looking to clinch but Kierkegaard pushes him off. Kierkegaard keeps the fight on the outside. Perkins closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kierkegaard to the mat! Perkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kierkegaard is on top in guard.

Kierkegaard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perkins swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kierkegaard stands and throws Perkins's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kierkegaard is working Perkins over with some ground and pound from side control. Kierkegaard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. This has been an exciting period of action! Kierkegaard looks up at the clock and then as Perkins takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kierkegaard smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Perkins is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Perkins dodges the ground and pound from Kierkegaard. Perkins is pushing Kierkegaard's head away, looking to escape. Kierkegaard manages to hold on to the position though. Perkins looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kierkegaard in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kierkegaard lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Perkins down.

Kierkegaard has hold of Perkins's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Perkins seems comfortable defending it but Kierkegaard has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Perkins is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Perkins is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kierkegaard couldn't care less - he's delighted!
