Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cornelius Smithy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Duck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cornelius Smithy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cornelius Smithy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Duck!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duck fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smithy looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Smithy slaps away a takedown attempt from Duck, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Duck wants to clinch up but Smithy keeps it at a distance.
Duck shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smithy defends it nicely.
Smithy avoids the head kick by Duck.
Duck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duck throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Duck shoots in and drives through. Smithy sprawls well.
Cornelius Smithy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Duck.
Duck is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Duck lands a big head kick that sends Smithy tumbling to the mat! Duck takes a step backwards and waves Smithy back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Cornelius Smithy has been cut.
Duck tries to clinch up but Smithy circles away and keeps his distance.
Duck throws a sloppy head kick and Smithy moves out of range easily.

Smithy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smithy showed some decent athleticism there.
Smithy stops Duck from getting back to his feet.
Duck is trying to control but can't.
Smithy trying to mount his opponent but Duck defends it.
Smithy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Duck actively working from the bottom here.
Duck strikes from the bottom but Smithy passes into mount!
Duck tries to hold on but Smithy postures up.
Duck is wriggling around trying to escape.
Duck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Duck's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Duck really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Duck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smithy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smithy breaks from Duck's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Duck working to try and regain half guard.
Smithy looking to finish with strikes here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smithy jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Duck is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Duck and Smithy has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Duck stops Smithy from passing to mount.

Smithy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Duck knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Duck tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Cornelius Smithy's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Duck has his takedown stuffed

and Smithy counters with a shoot takedown. Duck fights it but they end up in guard.
Duck working a defensive guard but Smithy passes into half guard.
Duck tries to roll over but Smithy keeps him under control.

Smithy wants to pass the guard but Duck is defending well.
Duck tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Smithy has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smithy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Duck is squirming around, avoiding Smithy's attempts to control the action.

Smithy looking to secure an arm triangle but Duck defends it well.
Duck is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Duck is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Duck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smithy has isolated one of Duck's arms. Duck looking to fight him off but Smithy twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
