PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Marcus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Marcus!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott slips a jab from Marcus.
Marcus pivots, looking for a leg kick but Scott is out of range and Marcus settles back down.
Marcus misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marcus lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Scott has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Scott and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Marcus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Scott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Scott.
Marcus misses with a low kick.
Marcus tries to bum rush Scott with a series of wild strikes but Scott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Scott gets the takedown into side control.
Scott wants to control but Marcus is keeping him busy.
Marcus is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Scott tries to advance to mount but Marcus denies him.
Scott wants to control but Marcus is keeping him busy.
Scott controlling the position from side mount.

Scott is trying to get an arm triangle but Marcus is defending well.
A lull in the action here as Scott stalls from top position.

Scott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Scott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marcus wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scott is trying to get an arm triangle but Marcus is defending well.
Marcus is looking to get back to his feet here but Scott is keeping cool and he's managed to take Marcus's back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Marcus is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Scott trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Marcus doesn't escape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Scott dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Marcus misses with a head kick.
Good exchange - Marcus coming out on top.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marcus as he jumps to the side.
Marcus misses with a few strikes there.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.
Marcus tries to work over Scott's front leg with a kick but Scott checks it.
Marcus throws a right and a left that both miss.

Scott shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Marcus is trying to defend but Scott finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Scott wants to take a breather but Marcus is having none of it.

Scott passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Marcus!
Scott controlling the position easily from mount.
Scott tries to control but Marcus wriggling away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marcus is trying to stand up.
Scott tries to control but Marcus wriggling away.
Scott is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Marcus is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Marcus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Marcus is breathing heavily.
Scott looking to finish with strikes here!
Scott content just to control the position here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Sam Scott just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Marcus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Scott moves away.
Some wild striking there from Marcus.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marcus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marcus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Scott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Scott dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Scott takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Marcus throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Nice sprawl there from Marcus as Scott shoots in.
Marcus swinging wildly here.
Ryan Marcus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Scott shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Scott was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Marcus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Scott looking to control but Marcus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Scott is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Scott jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Marcus manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Scott is looking to take a break and control but Marcus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Marcus is looking to get back to his feet here but Scott is keeping cool and he's managed to take Marcus's back.
Scott wants to control but Marcus is keeping busy.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scott, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
