PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jamal Stuart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luis Da Silva!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stuart keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stuart gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stuart misses with a head kick.
Stuart looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Stuart tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stuart manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jamal Stuart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Da Silva.
A nice combination there by Stuart.
Stuart fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Stuart saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stuart could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Stuart tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A bone on bone clash there as Stuart blocks the leg kick.

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Stuart tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.

Stuart decides to pull guard.
Stuart wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.
Stuart controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.
Stuart wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
Silva wants to control from the top but Stuart keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stuart tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stuart looking to control.
Silva wants to control from the top but Stuart keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stuart regains half guard.
Stuart is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stuart trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Silva manages to pass to mount!

Silva goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Stuart is on top in guard.
Silva looks gassed!

Stuart is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!
Stuart working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silva has gone for a leg lock! Stuart slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silva's guard.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Stuart from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jamal Stuart will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Stuart tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Stuart which made him look bad.

and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva.
Stuart is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva forces his way into half guard.
Silva trying to control from half guard but Stuart is working away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva is thwarting Stuart's attempts to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva is trying for a kimura here. Stuart looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Silva wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Luis Da Silva!
