Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Jerabek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Jonson! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jerabek shoots in and bounces Jonson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jonson wants to sweep but no luck. Jerabek won't allow Jonson to get back to his feet. Jonson has his hands on Jerabek's head, controlling the position. Jonson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jonson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jonson, not yet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jonson can do anything to dispel that myth. Jonson has his hands on Jerabek's head, controlling the position. Jerabek wants to control from the top but Jonson keeps moving. Jonson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jonson, not yet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jonson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jerabek moves away. Jonson lands with a hook. Jerabek tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Jonson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jerabek. Jerabek tries to clinch up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jerabek fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jerabek swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jonson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jerabek tries to get to full guard but Jonson has control of the leg. Jerabek has hold of Jonson's hands but Jonson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jerabek is pressing down on Jonson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jerabek looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jonson lands a couple of elbows. Jerabek throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jonson uses it to pass to side control.
Jerabek is breathing heavily. Jonson lands some shots froms side control. Jonson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Jerabek takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jerabek takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Jerabek is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jonson working the ground and pound. Oh Jerabek is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Jerabek gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Jerabek seems to have got his legs back now. Jonson connects with a bit shot that sees Jerabek covering up! More strikes from Jonson and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Jonson is our winner by TKO!
