Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jussi Kantola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Froyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Froyd has chosen Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music. Damien Froyd struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Damien Froyd told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Froyd throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kantola was covering up waiting for the punch and Froyd finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Froyd stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kantola swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kantola avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Froyd drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kantola manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Froyd has Kantola in his guard.
Kantola not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kantola is really struggling to control Froyd but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Froyd thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Kantola stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Froyd tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kantola sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Froyd somewhat.
Kantola shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
so Froyd counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Froyd drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kantola looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kantola looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kantola!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kantola lands a head kick. Froyd smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kantola dives in and grabs Froyd's left leg, looking for a takedown. Froyd pushes down on Kantola's head and hops out.
