PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Davi Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asmir Zslevski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Davi Azevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asmir Zslevski!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azevedo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Azevedo throws a sloppy head kick and Zslevski moves out of range easily.
Azevedo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zslevski showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Azevedo.
Zslevski just misses with a punch to the body.

Zslevski gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Azevedo is defending against the submission attempts here by Zslevski.

Zslevski postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Azevedo to stand up.

Azevedo throws a head kick but Zslevski moves out of range.
Zslevski blocks a head kick by Azevedo.
Zslevski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

so Zslevski counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Zslevski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Zslevski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Azevedo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Zslevski passes Azevedo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Zslevski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Azevedo keeps working.

Zslevski is looking for a kimura but Azevedo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zslevski to get the leverage.

Azevedo is defending against the submission attempts here by Zslevski.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zslevski trying to control the action but Azevedo is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Azevedo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Zslevski uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Azevedo.

and Zslevski counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Azevedo wants to stand up but Zslevski is controlling him.

Zslevski has gone for a leg lock! Azevedo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Zslevski's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asmir Zslevski dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Zslevski counters with a nice double leg into side control. Azevedo won't be happy with that.

Zslevski is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Azevedo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Azevedo managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Zslevski.

Zslevski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Azevedo has escaped the position, nice work there.
Asmir Zslevski has got the better of the ground game so far.

Zslevski looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Zslevski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zslevski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Azevedo is trying to buck Zslevski off.

Zslevski stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Zslevski.
Azevedo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zslevski on the ground.

Zslevski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Azevedo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Zslevski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Azevedo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asmir Zslevski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Azevedo throws a sloppy head kick

and Zslevski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Azevedo's guard now.

Azevedo is not content to let Zslevski control the position.
Zslevski moves into full mount! Azevedo won't be happy about that!

Zslevski goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Azevedo turns into him and now he's in Zslevski's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Azevedo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Zslevski's guard.
Zslevski is trying to keep Azevedo in close.
Zslevski tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Zslevski is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Zslevski had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Azevedo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Zslevski Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Azevedo's back instead.

Zslevski is persistently looking for the submission but Azevedo is defending it well.

Zslevski has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Azevedo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Zslevski throws a series of strikes and Azevedo wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.

Zslevski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Azevedo is looking to escape.
Azevedo wants to try and get back to his feet.
Azevedo is squirming around, avoiding Zslevski's attempts to control the action.

Zslevski working for a guillotine from mount but Azevedo is in no mood to give up.
Zslevski tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zslevski tries to control but Azevedo wriggling away.
Zslevski fails to move to back control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Asmir Zslevski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Zslevski winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
