Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Belfort! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmy Hacker! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slapping leg kick lands for Belfort.
Hacker avoids a kick to the body.
Belfort tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hacker swats him away and circles back towards the center. Belfort shoots in for a double leg but Hacker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Belfort closes the distance and clinches up with Hacker, looking for a takedown. Belfort pushes Hacker against the cage but Hacker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hacker shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Belfort is looking to improve his position.
Hacker is trying to control. Belfort wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Belfort is trying to get back to full guard. Hacker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belfort tries to get to full guard but Hacker has control of the leg. Belfort is trying to control but can't.
Hacker drops an elbow to the side of Belfort's head. Belfort avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hacker. Belfort wants to get back to his feet. Belfort is trying to control but can't.
Hacker trying to control the action but Belfort is working from the bottom. Belfort slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Belfort throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Belfort avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hacker controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hacker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hacker slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Belfort. Hacker is looking to advance position but Belfort won't allow it. Hacker not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hacker is looking to take a break and control but Belfort is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Belfort doesn't manage to clinch there - Hacker circles away.
Hacker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hacker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belfort tries to hold on but Hacker postures up. Hacker looking to isolate an arm here. Belfort doesn't see it coming and as Hacker extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Hacker!
