The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Diggsby sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mir somewhat.

Mir fails with a takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mir slips a jab and a cross from Diggsby.
No joy there for Diggsby, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mir shoots in and drives through. Diggsby sprawls well.
Travis Diggsby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.
Diggsby throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mir.
Diggsby looks to land a combination but Mir avoids it well.
Diggsby looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Diggsby fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Diggsby wants to land a leg kick but Mir is out of range.
Mir takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diggsby throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mir.

Mir avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt - Diggsby sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diggsby throws a right and a left that both miss.

Diggsby decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Diggsby is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mir still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mir has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Diggsby tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mir wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mir wants to control but Diggsby is keeping him busy.
Diggsby tries to buck Mir off but Mir is having none of it.

Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diggsby keeps working.

Mir tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mir has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Diggsby will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mir fails with the takedown

and Diggsby counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Diggsby seems to be looking for submissions.

Diggsby looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mir is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mir gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Diggsby makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Frank Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Diggsby.
Mir drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

A lazy left from Diggsby finds it's target.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt
and Diggsby counters with a left and a right that stings Mir.
Diggsby is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Diggsby tries for a kimura but Mir is defending well.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mir has eaten all the pies!

Diggsby is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mir has escaped the position, nice work there.

You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Diggsby is trying to get an arm triangle but Mir is defending well.
Diggsby with the ground and pound but Mir regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Diggsby is working for a kimura but Mir is defending it quite comfortably.
Mir is doing well to control the position and prevent Diggsby from advancing to side control.

Diggsby is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Diggsby not landing any meaningful shots this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mir is defending against the submission attempts here by Diggsby.

Diggsby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mir doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diggsby.
Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mir avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Diggsby.
