Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Markov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Stackhouse! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stackhouse throws a big shot that misses. Stackhouse closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Markov did well to prevent Stackhouse getting side control. Markov looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Stackhouse pushes past his half guard into mount! Markov tries to lock up and control but Stackhouse gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Stackhouse tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Markov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Markov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Markov looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Stackhouse biding his time, looking for the opening.
Stackhouse's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Markov looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Stackhouse biding his time, looking for the opening.
Stackhouse punches the canvas rather than the man.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Stackhouse is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Markov with him. Markov is trying to defend but Stackhouse has an arm under the chin now! Markov grimaces and is forced to tap out!
