Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danilo Augusto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Viktor Vanderlaine! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Augusto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vanderlaine pinned against the cage. Vanderlaine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Augusto needs to keep his hands up - Vanderlaine had a free shot at his head there. Vanderlaine will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Augusto misses with a straight left. Vanderlaine misses with a takedown attempt and Augusto counters with a takedown into side control. Vanderlaine tries to get back to half guard but can't. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Vanderlaine tries to improve position but can't. Vanderlaine seems a little lost for a moment, as Augusto dominates the positioning. Augusto has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Vanderlaine tries to escape but Augusto is in control. Augusto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vanderlaine keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vanderlaine is trying to improve his position. Vanderlaine looks gassed! Augusto wants to control but Vanderlaine is keeping him busy. Vanderlaine is trying to get back to half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Augusto throws a low kick, looking for Vanderlaine's leg but Vanderlaine calmly moves out of range. Vanderlaine gets caught flat footed, as Augusto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Augusto stands and throws Vanderlaine's legs to the side, diving into side control. Augusto tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vanderlaine's legs. Augusto is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vanderlaine has escaped the position, nice work there. Vanderlaine is looking for a sweep. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Augusto slows the pace down. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vanderlaine can do anything to dispel that myth. Vanderlaine tries to buck Augusto off but Augusto is having none of it. Augusto has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Vanderlaine is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Augusto yanks on the arm and Vanderlaine is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Augusto.
