Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Salvador Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Kelly! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelly tries to clinch but Cannon is having none of it. A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Kelly does a little dance to reset his feet. Kelly tries to clinch up but Cannon circles away and keeps his distance. Kelly wants to clinch up but Cannon keeps it at a distance. Kelly scores with a leg kick.
Kelly is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kelly takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Nice sprawl there from Kelly as Cannon shoots in. Kelly fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kelly tries to clinch up. Kelly tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kelly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cannon. Cannon keeps the fight on the outside. The fight stays on the outside here - Kelly looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kelly fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kelly tries to clinch up. Kelly fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kelly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kelly wants it to stay on the feet. Kelly throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cannon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kelly won't be happy with that. Cannon is looking to take a break and control but Kelly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kelly is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cannon asserts his dominance and retains side control. Kelly takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Cannon trying to control the action but Kelly is working from the bottom. Cannon is working Kelly over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelly prevents Cannon from improving position. Cannon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cannon has knee on belly and moves into mount. Kelly is trying to stand up. Cannon postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kelly looks a forlorn figure.
Kelly tries to hold on but Cannon postures up. Cannon working the ground and pound effectively.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cannon tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Kelly is working to get back to half guard.

Cannon unloads with some shots from mount but Kelly bucks and avoids them well.
Cannon misses with a head shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kelly defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cannon. Cannon with a couple of short strikes. Kelly tries to hold on but Cannon postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kelly is bucking up trying to escape but Cannon cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
It looks like Jim Kelly has been cut. Cannon with a couple of short strikes. Cannon throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cannon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cannon postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kelly in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kelly to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Salvador Cannon!
