Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Gailfus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Gailfus could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Nelson Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Gailfus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nelson Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie closes the distance and clinches.

Gailfus manages to pull guard.
Gracie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracie trying to control but Gailfus is working from the bottom.
Gracie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gailfus kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Gailfus keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Gailfus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gailfus manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Gailfus's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gailfus closes the distance and clinches up with Gracie, looking for a takedown. Gailfus pushes Gracie against the cage but Gracie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gracie tries to clinch there but Gailfus circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gailfus shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Gailfus is keeping the position.
Gracie passes Gailfus's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Gailfus wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Gailfus is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Gailfus is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura but Gailfus is defending well.
Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie prevents Gailfus from improving his position.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gailfus is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.

Gailfus is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.
Gailfus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gailfus won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Gailfus is trying to control but can't.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gailfus is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.

Gracie is looking for a kimura here.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.

Gailfus has one foot on Gracie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gailfus tries for a takedown but Gracie circles away easily

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Gailfus. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gailfus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gailfus swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gailfus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Gailfus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gracie drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Gracie seems to have locked his on tight now - Gailfus screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Gracie, as he picks up the win!
