PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Levi Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Levi Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carwin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the ropes.
Carwin jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Carwin around his waist. Carwin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Carwin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Diaz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Diaz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Diaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carwin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Diaz has managed to clinch.
Diaz keeps control of Carwin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Carwin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Diaz smiles and moves away.
Levi Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Carwin.

Diaz gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Carwin has had enough of the clinch but Diaz keeps him there for the moment.
Diaz lands with a short shot to the head.
Carwin jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Carwin around his waist. Carwin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.
Carwin tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.

Carwin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Diaz darts in and clinches Carwin up against the ropes.
Carwin tries to score a body lock takedown but Diaz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Carwin looks gassed!

Diaz breaks from the clinch.
Carwin wants to clinch but Diaz slips to the side

and Diaz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Diaz.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Diaz just misses with a elbow thrown towards Carwin's brow.
A frustrated look appears on Carwin's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carwin misses with a two punch combination.
Levi Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz rushes Carwin and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Diaz lands with a light punch inside.
Diaz slows down the pace here.
Diaz lands a shot to the body.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Diaz has control of Carwin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carwin regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Diaz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz cracks Carwin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Diaz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carwin looks a forlorn figure.
Carwin is in a horrible position here. Diaz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Diaz quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Diaz but it's paid off an Carwin is forced to tap! Nice work by Diaz.
