Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julian Reis!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Reis working for a triangle but Castro defends it easily.

Reis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Castro can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Reis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Castro defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Castro wants to pass the guard but Reis is keeping the position.

Castro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Reis, up you get!

Castro moves into the clinch.

Castro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Castro throws a leg kick that misses.
Reis shoots and misses

and Castro counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Reis!
Castro scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Castro breaks from Reis's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Castro with a couple of short strikes.
Castro sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Castro looking to control but Reis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Castro lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Reis is wriggling around trying to escape.
Castro punishing his opponent with strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Castro controlling from the full mount.
Reis is looking to improve his position but Castro isn't that keen on the idea.
Castro lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Reis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Castro is breathing heavily.
Castro wants to take Reis's back but he can't do it this time.
Castro trying to control but Reis is having none of it.
Reis is working to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castro controlling the position easily from mount.
Reis is trying to escape the mount.

Castro is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Reis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Castro looking to finish Reis with some ground and pound. This is bad for Reis!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Reis is desperately trying to improve his position but Castro has a good base and remains in mount.
Castro is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reis misses with a takedown

so Castro counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Eddie Castro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Reis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Castro defends well.

Reis has his foot on Castro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Castro works his way back into a safe position though.

Reis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Castro wants to control from the top but Reis keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reis has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Castro should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Reis has tightened it up now! Castro should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
