Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Kelly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, juan sanchez! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! sanchez explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. sanchez connects with a high kick. Kelly shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kelly is looking to advance position but sanchez won't allow it. sanchez wants to get back to full guard. Kelly is pressing down on sanchez's thigh, looking to free his foot. sanchez is holding on for now. sanchez wants to control but Kelly is keeping busy and won't allow it. sanchez looking for submissions off his back. Kelly uses his free foot to push down on sanchez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for sanchez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelly is working for a guillotine from mount but sanchez frees his head quite easily.
sanchez tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kelly is going oldschool here, as he tries to force sanchez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so sanchez shrugs it off. Kelly looking to ground and pound but sanchez is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. sanchez wants to hold on but Kelly pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. A nice elbow there by Kelly. sanchez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. sanchez regains half guard. sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
Kelly working the head and body with strikes. sanchez moves into full guard.
sanchez keeping full guard, as Kelly tries to pass. sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kelly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. sanchez has his foot on Kelly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly thows a big elbow that misses. sanchez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kelly escapes and throws sanchez's legs to the side, diving into side control! Kelly is looking to take a break and control but sanchez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. sanchez is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kelly wants to lay and pray for a moment but sanchez keeps working. sanchez tries to improve position but can't. sanchez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kelly's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Kelly! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and sanchez has tapped! This one is allllll over!
