Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Caio Matushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jugurtti Josef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Caio Matushi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jugurtti Josef!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Matushi misses.
Josef throws out a powerful jab.

Josef shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Josef was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Josef scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Matushi?
Matushi keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
You get the feeling that Matushi really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matushi is working to get back to half guard.
Josef controlling the position easily from mount.
Matushi swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Matushi throwing hammer fists to the chest of Josef. What's that going to do exactly?
Matushi tries to reverse the position but Josef maintains control.

Josef trying to control but Matushi is having none of it.

Josef get's back to his feet.
No joy there for Matushi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Josef should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Matushi missing with a left hand there. Josef was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A cross from Matushi lands.
Josef lands with a kick to the temple. Matushi shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Josef has managed to clinch.

Josef breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Josef throws a head kick but Matushi moves out of range.
Josef blocks a jab.
Matushi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Matushi is breathing heavily.

Josef has taken the fight to the clinch.

Josef jumps guard and drags Matushi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Josef throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Josef is adopting a defensive guard.
Josef controls Matushi momentarily but Matushi frees himself.
Josef wants to improve his position but instead Matushi has moved into half guard.

Josef is trying to get back to full guard.
Josef moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Matushi won't allow Josef to sweep him here.
Matushi wants to get up but he can't break Josef's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Josef trying to keep a closed guard but Matushi is proving a slippery customer.

Josef is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Josef is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jugurtti Josef dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Josef has Matushi up against the cage in a clinch.
Matushi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Matushi looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Josef gets control of Matushi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Josef will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Josef can do anything to dispel that myth.

Josef isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Matushi stacks Josef on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Matushi!
Josef wants to control but Matushi postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Josef is looking for a sweep.

Matushi gets to mount! Josef was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Matushi avoids the attempt from Josef to control.
Josef is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Matushi is staying active.
Matushi wants to control the pace but Josef is squirming around nicely.
Matushi tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Josef keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Josef is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Josef really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matushi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matushi wants to get back to his feet but Josef is holding on tight.
Josef tries to hold on but Matushi pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jugurtti Josef just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Josef bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Josef is looking to take a break and control but Matushi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Matushi is looking to regain half guard here but Josef keeps moving and retains side control.
Josef is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Matushi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Matushi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Josef off and has taken his back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Josef has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jugurtti Josef showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Matushi thuds his right hand into Josef's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Josef keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Matushi.

so Josef counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Josef throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Matushi wants to sweep but no luck.
Josef trying to control the position from guard on top but Matushi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Matushi is trying to keep Josef in close.
Matushi wants to stand up but Josef is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Matushi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Josef has his hands clasped together but Matushi extends an breaks Josef's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Matushi.
